Medical spas, wellness clinics, IV therapy providers, and aesthetic practices operating in Arkansas have until Monday October 19th to submit comments on proposed revisions to two Arkansas State Board of Nursing position statements. The Board opened a 30-day public comment period on updates to Position Statement 21-1, on the role of licensed nurses in medical aesthetics, cosmetic, and dermatological procedures, and Position Statement 26-1, addressing the role of licensed nurses in IV hydration services. The proposed revised statements are available as PDFs at the following links for Position Statement 21-1 and Position Statement 26-1.

Although the revisions have not yet been adopted, the updated guidance could affect nursing responsibilities and expectations in two of the most actively regulated areas of the medical spa industry. Providers utilizing nurses for aesthetic procedures or IV hydration services should consider reviewing the proposed changes and submitting feedback before the comment period closes on October 19, 2026. Written comments can be submitted to the APRN Asst. Director, ADH-Arkansas State Board of Nursing at 1123 South University Ave.: Suite 800, Little Rock, AR 72204.
