Virginia Laser Hair Removal regulation soon to open for public comment and hearing

November 26, 2018

Earlier this month Governor Northam approved the draft language of the Laser Hair Removal regulation known as 18 VAC 85-20. This regulation is the result of the 2017 law that required appropriate supervision and training for persons performing laser hair removal procedures.  The proposed rules specify training requirements that people will need to complete in order to perform laser hair removal. This includes physicians and physician assistants wishing to perform or supervise laser hair removal procedures. The next step in the approval process is the public comment period and public hearing. The public comment period is open now and runs through December 28th with the public hearing taking place on December 7th at 8:35am in Richmond. If this regulation affects you and you are interested in submitting a comment or attending the hearing you can find out additional information at the Virginia Regulatory Town Hall.
