July 8, 2025

An article in Frontiers in Medicine shares the results of a new protocol for managing ischemia following filler-induced vascular occlusion (FIVO).

Researchers Nazari, Fakih-Gomez, Hadadian, Bayat, Bohlouli, Muñoz-Gonzalez and Pourani developed the novel protocol called “THIS and FAT,” which uses a combination of T: botulinum toxin type A, H: high-dose hyaluronidase, I: injectable platelet-rich fibrin (PRF); S: serum PRF; A: aspirin and antibiotics; N: nanofat; D: debridement and dermabrasion; and F: fat membrane application.

In a case series of 25 patients, 92% showed complete improvement without scar formation.
