Ohio Pharmacy Board Suspends Four More Practice Licenses Over Unapproved Drugs

June 24, 2025

The Ohio Board of Pharmacy suspended the distribution licenses of two med spas and two doctor practices on June 17. This comes to a total of 10 suspensions this year issued over allegations of illegally dispensing weight loss or cosmetic procedures.

The allegations include distributing drugs with Chinese and Korean labels from firms not registered with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, unapproved foreign injectables and homeopathic extracts, drugs that were labeled in the clinic and drugs prescribed for a clinic’s owner, but used as office stock.

The FDA recently released Concerns with Unapproved GLP-1 Drugs Used for Weight Loss, addressing unapproved versions of GLP-1 medications, including compounded or counterfeit copies of semaglutide and tirzepatide, salt forms and other doses labeled as for research purposes, and the experimental retatrutide. Visit the FDA resources for more information on safely purchasing medical weight loss drugs.
