Police arrested a Port St. Lucie, Florida, woman for allegedly botching an illegal botulinum toxin injection in a shed in her backyard.

The victim who came forward in May 2025 told police she experienced facial paralysis after being injected at the makeshift med spa. Police say the suspect refunded the victim $325 after the paralysis persisted, and invited the woman to return for injections with purported “vitamins to ‘reverse’ the effects.” The victim asked to see her medical license but was presented with an altered certificate of phlebotomy, which a call to the issuing agency confirmed had expired. The woman also claimed to be a doctor from the Dominican Republic.

Detectives executing a search warrant found evidence of medical devices, machines and medical instruments at the site, including “medical beds, medications, vials, needles, fat sculpting machines, PRP injections, micro-needling equipment, laser hair removal equipment, laser lipo machines, massage equipment, facial equipment, injectable devices for fillers and Botox.”

The Port St. Lucie woman is charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm, practicing medicine without an active license, fraud and using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.
