Detroit-area Doctor Got $2.6-million Virus PPP Loan While Peddling Phony COVID-19 Cure, Feds Say

A Shelby Township doctor accused of performing phony coronavirus treatments received more than $2.6 million in emergency loans intended to help companies survive the COVID-19 economic shutdown, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors revealed the twist this week in a criminal fraud case against Dr. Charles Donald Mok II, 56, of Allure Medical Spa. He is believed to be the first person charged in Metro Detroit as part of a nationwide crackdown on fraud linked to the global pandemic.
