AAFPRS Members Weigh In on Cosmetic Procedures During COVID-19

After a long hiatus due to state-mandated stay-at-home orders, many members of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) have reopened their practices and resumed the performance of several elective cosmetic procedures. According to the AAFPRS, the most highly requested treatments during the pandemic are neuromodulators, such as Botox, Dysport, Xeomin and Jeuveau. However, more invasive procedures may be coming into vogue as well. Says AAFPRS president Mary Lynn Moran, MD, “As patients visit my practice, after months seeing their image on ZOOM calls during COVID-19, I believe it created some pent-up demand for people to get in and get back into their regimen, as well as consider procedures they may had never considered, such as facelift or chin implants.”
