The American Med Spa Association’s Medical Aesthetic Legal Summaries Make Legal Compliance Easier Than Ever
The American Med Spa Association’s legal compliance resources are now available to medical spa professionals in all 50 states, with the recent additions of Alaska, Mississippi, North Dakota, Rhode Island, and West Virginia. AmSpa’s state-by-state legal summaries are the industry’s best resource for understanding the often confusing regulatory landscape of medical spas. AmSpa members across the country will be able to find answers to questions regarding:
•Who can inject Botox;
•Who can perform laser treatments (including intense pulsed light, laser skin resurfacing, and laser hair removal);
•Who can own a med spa;
•The legality of Botox parties;
“As a medical spa owner, having a resource like AmSpa on your side is so helpful,” says Stephanie Gaberich, owner of About Face Anti-Aging Institute in Harker Heights, Texas. “It is a great place to find solid and reputable information, contact info for great vendor partners, and just overall be a part of a community of like-minded people. It is a very quickly changing industry and you will need to stay on top of it with a good solid foundation of partners and guidance.”
Additionally, AmSpa Plus members in 18 states will be able to find answers to more than 25 additional advanced questions such as:
•Does a physician have to be physically present while a nurse practitioner or physician assistant is performing services in a medical spa?
•Can an aesthetician, cosmetologist, electrologist, or vocational nurse use lasers or intense light devices?
•Can a physician use a picture album containing patient photos?
•May a physician leave a message on a patient’s answering machine or verify an appointment with a family member or spouse?
“I joined AmSpa a few years ago because my wife is an attorney, however she doesn’t specialize in what we do,” says Chris Bailey, owner of Ovation Med Spa in Houston, Texas. “Getting connected with AmSpa several years ago has been a great help in keeping track of what the rules are.”
