NY Abolishes Written Practice Agreement for NPs

According to Health Leaders Media, a new law in New York has eliminated the need for a written collaborative agreement between a Nurse Practitioner and a physician. Although the new law does not expand NP’ scope of practice, the practice agreement that has tethered NPs to physicians as a requirement to practice will no longer be needed as of January 1, 2015 when the Nurse Practitioners Modernization Act takes effect.
